Welcome to the world, 2013. You've got a tough act to follow.

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

- George Santayana

This time last year, I resolved to drink more water, be less afraid of spiders, and listen more than I talk. I am pretty sure I made those same resolutions the year before. Twenty-four months later, I'm still ingesting too much sugar and not enough water, I'm still afraid of spiders, and I still talk more than I listen (hence, the blog).

But this year, I'm gonna try something different. Before looking forwards, I spent a few minutes glancing in my rearview mirror.

This is what I saw:

Burger's Priest & Grape Crush. Perfect meal
First snowfall of the year.
My Martha moment: a grape & cheese Christmas tree

Are they really getting along? The power of sushi.

Extreme couponing.
The start of one of many races.
Persuaded the saleswoman to take my picture from behind when trying on jeans so I could judge for myself.
Baking bread. Truly a spiritual experience.
A smiley face in my grape Popsicle. The epitome of stopping to smell the roses. Sort of.
Getting caught in the rain. A Toronto summer rite-of-passage.
A great book I read this year.
Stuff I grew. Not the beer bottle.

My happy place.

My final favorite book of the year.
You know what? I had an awesome year. I don't need to make any resolutions. Things are ok. I'm ok.

Well...except that maybe I could mix in a salad once in a while.
