51 Days to NYC

A short but fast run. I actually thought I ran less than I did because it took me so short to do it but lo and behold... Not that it was a remarkably long rung; in fact only 5k (seems like the 5k-ers are all I had time for all week) but a great fast 5 k.

Made a beautiful 3-plater for Friday night dinner with all the usual fixin's: gefilte fish, chopped liver, coleslaw, etc... good but nothing unusual until dessert where I made this 1960's torte recipe I found in the NY Times. Made the house smell SOOOOOO good and because it is non-dairy, it could be served after a meat dinner (if you are kosher). Except for that I served it with vanilla Ice Cream Actually, because it is with apples, it is the perfect dessert for Rosh Hashanah dinner. Or Thanksgiving, if you are looking for something other than the usual pumpkin/apple pie.

Started reading The Phantom Tollbooth to my class. What a classic! I have read it many times and it never gets old!
