50 Days to NYC

Running:
Break day. One of the nicest days of the summer...except that since school is back in session, it feels more like fall. Didn't just sit on my butt, thought. I still ran out of my house early...ran to Starbucks to get a coffee and the paper and then right back into bed to drink my coffee and read my paper and eat my favorite breakfast in bed; which leads me to...

Recipe:
...my favorite breakfast in bed (or late-night snack. or book club noshes), fancy cheese on fresh warm french bread with honey and green apples. it is actually supposed to be pears but I find it hard to find a good pear; usually they are too grainy for me. I am not sure if you noticed, but in eating, one of the main reasons I hate foods is because of the texture: pears, grainy; pudding & yogurt & custard & the like, weird and gelatinous, okra & too soft boiled eggs, snot-like. I could go on and on. But I prefer to talk about what I do like: cheese. If you are just getting started and are ready to finally venture away from Kraft processed cheese sliced and Philly cream cheese, go for the following: Beemster for a cheddar-like cheese: it is a hard cheese with these tiny delicious crystals that takes like caramel; and Riopelle: like brie except more mellow, make sure you eat it a room temp.
