65 & 64 Days to NYC

I am combining these two days because both days can pretty much be summed up in three words (and not the three words that this blog is supposed to focus on): family, travel, and gluttony. I never thought I would say it, but I am SO fast-fooded out; my body feels like a cesspool and I am desperately craving fresh food.

However, there were some highlights from the last few days that are worth noting:

Travel: Driving with the entire Hochberg clan through New York state. It was all about the kids: playing 9 holes of golf (which is painful with a 6 year old who does not play golf... and a 35-year-old who does not play golf), spending no less than 2 hours in the American Girl store in New York, and changing hotel rooms at 3 in the morning when the bridal party in the room next to us decided to continue the party. There is nothing worse than being awakened in the middle of the night to Corey Hart's Sunglasses at Night.

Family: The Bar Mitzvah of Yuddi...a learning experience.

Gluttony: Katz's Deli, Pretzels from a Street Vendor, cupcakes from the origin of the world-wide trend: all of these are must haves when visiting New York. We returned from the day exhausted but satisfied. But that day was just one day of excess on the trip; doughnuts from a real doughnut shop in a small town, the most delicious potato kugel after the Bar Mitzvah, and chocolate raisins while zooming through the Aderondacks and Catskill mountains were just some of the reasons I went to sleep last night debating whether I would ever eat again. You know it is bad when even my son is refusing to eat fast food anymore.
