Day 9

4.5 miles (or according to the rules of rounding, 5 miles) First 1.5 alone, second 3 with Roz. Perfect. I loved the exhilaration of the fast run alone at the beginning and then the conversation with a great friend for the second part that made it seem like a 2 minute run. Both runs were head clearing but in two completely different ways. Days like today remind me that for me, running is not just about strengthening my body.

Vanilla-bean cupcakes with a salted caramel icing. So good. So decadent. So. Much. Butter. On one hand, it is great to make my own cupcakes as I know what goes into them. On the other hand, it stinks to make my own cupcakes because I know what goes into them. But it is all worth it. These babies are really rich, so if you make them, I would make 48 mini cupcakes instead of 24 regular size. And I had a ton of extra icing left over. I would 1/2 the recipe...unless you love your butter.

So I had just about given up trying to find Mr. Pip, the book I agreed to read for our next book club (this month we are all reading different books and reporting back to each other since we could not agree on a book) . It was not available at any Indigo in a 25 mile radius and had a 1-2 week wait when I tried to order on-line, but then on a whim, I went into BMV at Yonge & Eglinton (second-hand & overstock book & DVD store...amazing deals) and there they were; copy upon copy of Mr. Pip. And you all know how I feel about "signs" from above. So guess what I was reading today? Sorry What is the What, you are going to have to hang out on my bedside just a little bit longer.
